Volunteer Opportunities

 

You are an Essential Piece to making each one of these events happen.  Some have a small time commitment and some you can do from home.  How are you going to get involved?

 

Art Walk: This exciting Community event provides an opportunity for the kids of NBE to show off and celebrate their artistic creations of all mediums.  Volunteers are needed for all phases of the event including:  promotion, collection of art, matting and final display, decoration and clean-up.

 

Artist Workshop: Help kids experience real hands-on art!  Assist local artists as they give professional instruction in up to 6 different mediums using real professional supplies.  At least 2 volunteers are needed in each class.  Help is also needed with planning and prep.

 

Bingo Night: Volunteers are needed to help with organization, procurement of prizes, set-up and cleanup.  This is a NBE PTA favorite event.  This event will be held on March 18th

 

Book Fair: Volunteers are needed to work during the event to assist students, ring up sales, and re-stock books.  Time slots will be available between the hours of 9am - 3pm daily and the evening of Family Night.  This event will be held from January 28th - February 4th.

 

Campbell’s Soup Labels & Box tops: Volunteers are needed to count and cut labels throughout the year.  Volunteers will be needed to help man tables during fundraisers at local grocery stores.

 

Experience Summer Project: Volunteers are needed for event coordination, decorations, food service, setup and cleanup.  This event will be held on May 26th

 

Field Day: Come help make the last even of the year a FUN one for all the students/staff.  Many volunteers are needed for assistance during the event as well as cleanup.  Help is also needed to help set up and break down of the big obstacle course in the gym.  This event will be held on June 13th

 

Golf Tournament: This event has been moved to the spring and will need help with various aspects of setting up, organizing and running this fundraiser.

 

Grant Writing: Assist in all phases of the grant writing process, from researching, data gathering and writing.

 

Membership: Volunteers are needed to assist with PTA Membership registrations (data entry, filing) and managing tables for membership drive/signups at school events.

 

Nominating Committee: The nominating committee is a group of 3 people who identify possible candidates to serve as PTA Executive Officers in the 2011-2012 school year.

 

Panther Trails: Panther Trail runs Fridays in the Fall and Spring.  It takes place outside during lunch time.  Volunteers are needed to hand out lap cards, lap counters and hand out prizes.  This is a once a month commitment.

 

Popcorn Fridays: Popcorn Fridays are held once per month during the lunch hour.  Volunteers are needed to pop the popcorn prior to the event and hand out popcorn during all the lunch sessions.

Reading Buddy Program: You can make a huge difference in a child's life by spending 1/2 hour once per week with a Reading Buddy.  You will be assigned to the same child for the entire school year.  Training will be provided.

 

RISE: R.I.S.E. classes are 6 week classes that will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the Winter.  People are needed to teach classes, volunteer during class times for 1 hour, and/or help plan and coordinate the classes.  Classes will begin February 15th - March 29th

 

Ski Bus: Volunteers needed to help coordinate 6 week Ski Bus/Lessons for Grades 3-5.  Chaperones are needed to help accompany kids on bus and ski hill.

 

Staff Appreciation: Volunteers needed to help coordinate staff appreciation activities, including; food, beverages, activities, gifts, etc.

 

Student Directory: Volunteers are needed to assist with creating the Student director.  Work begins in September and runs through the end of October.  Help is needed with data input, publication design, layout, assembly and distribution of directories.

 

Walk-A-Thon: The Walk-A-Thon is the main fundraising event for NBE.  Many volunteers are needed for helping on the day of the event.  Help will be needed with setting up the course, lap counters and volunteers to hand out prizes.  This event will be held October 4th - 7th

 

Winter Bazaar: A festive event.  Volunteers are needed to help with setup, crafts, holiday store and cleanup. This event will be held on December 10th.

 

Yearbook: This committee is responsible for taking pictures throughout the year of classroom and school activities (Sept-April).  Volunteers will be organizing the layout prior to print and meet occasionally though out the year.  Most work is done in March & April.
